Awards Developed Right Here in Chicago!

Some of the greatest ideas come from YOU, our Girl Scouts. When you help create a new badge, fun patch, try-it, etc. we see what things you think are important to share with other Girl Scouts. Your ideas are some of the best when it comes to creating new things for our other Girl Scouts to try. Because your ideas and projects are so important we want to dedicate a page to the resources created by YOU. This page is dedicated to those projects that have been created by our Girl Scouts over the years. The projects have resulted in new activities, badges, try-its and more. Keep the projects coming!

Keep in mind that even though these projects are ready to go, doesn't mean they cover everything. If you are working on any of these projects and think there is something that could be added to make it even better then we invite you to add it! We would love to build on these projects and add more great ideas - YOUR ideas.

Discover Chicago!

Whether you're a Chicago Girl Scout or a visiting Girl Scout you'll enjoy earning the Discover Chicago award. This program developed by as an interest project patch in 2005. Five Senior Girl Scouts from troop 1822 designed it as part of their Gold Award Project. This year they’ve added a Try-It and and Junior Badge! You can do these as a troop or on your own. It’s a wonderful mixture of planning your trip, learning about Chicago and experiencing what makes us special.

The Discover Chicago awards are available in our Girl Scout Shop. Just call or stop by, 312-416-2500 ext 227. You can also find them in our online shop.

Are there parts of Chicago that you think add to the Chicago experience? If so, then add them to the Discover Chicago project. Send us your plans for what you think also fit into discovering Chicago and we'll add them to the program!

Passport to Religion - Program in a Box

Passport to Religions is a program for girls to explore some of the diverse religions of the world. Discover many of the traditions, symbols and more about these religions. This project can be done individually or with your troop. Cadette Troop 1812 created the project so you can earn a Brownie Try-It, Junior Badge or Cadette/Senior Interest Project Patch.

To check out the Program in a Box. Make a reservation by contacting the Events Registrar, 312-416-2500 ext226 or events@girlscouts-chicago.org. There is a $20 deposit which will be returned upon delivery. Buy the patches, by contacting the Girl Scout Shop, 312/416-2500 ext 227 or chicagoshop@girlscoutsgcnwi.org. You can also find them in our online shop.

One of the things that makes Girl Scouting such an awesome thing is that we get to experience new things and find different ways of looking at the world. There are so many great things to learn from this project, and we know we did not cover them all - are there other things you would add to Passport to Religion? If so, send your activities to us and we will add them to the project.
