 The Volunteer Connection
Join our new e-mail service, The Volunteer Connection. We are starting a new e-mail service for adults affiliated with Girl Scouting in the Chicago area, The Volunteer Connection.
Throughout the year, Girl Scouts has many opportunities we'd like to share with volunteers. However, we don't want to overwhelm you with e-mails. We've set up this new system so you can tell us what types of e-mails you want. For example, if you only work with Brownies, you won't get e-mails about Cadettes, unless you choose to receive them. Choose one or as many of the following categories as you'd like. Topics include:
- General Interest
- Daisy Girl Scouts (5-6 Years)
- Brownie Girl Scouts (6-8 years)
- Junior Girl Scouts (9-11 years)
- Teen Girl Scouts (11-17 years)
- Council Program & Camp
- Volunteer & Training Opportunities
- Shop News
- Corporate Matters/Realignment News
- Fall Product
- Cookies
- Public Relations Opportunities
- Opportunities to Donate
- Program Ideas from Organizations other than Girl Scouts
Easy-to-follow links on the bottom of each e-mail will allow you to unsubscribe or change your preferences at any time. If you are interested in subscribing to this new service, please click on the "Update Profile/E-mail Address" link at the bottom of this e-mail.
Right now, we are testing the service with volunteers only. If this is successful we will consider including e-mail groups for girls in the future.
Some people are concerned this will replace the GSChicago YahooGroup. Not true. The YahooGroup is a wonderful place for volunteers to interact with each other and share ideas. This will continue on as intended.
The main difference is the e-mail list will only be outgoing e-mail from the Girl Scout Council. In comparison, the YahooGroup is interactive. Some people have chosen to leave the YahooGroup because the number of e-mails were overwhelming. The new e-mail list will provide a wonderful option for those people who want to choose the types of e-mails they receive.
Everyone is welcomed to subscribe to both the YahooGroup and this service.
If you are not a member of the GSChicago YahooGroup and would like more information, please go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gschicago/ or contact Debbie Nawara at 312-416-2500 ext 212 or dnawara@girlscoutsgcnwi.org.

More Abouts...
More Abouts were developed by our training department. We have two years of back issues available for download. Each issue focuses on one topic, such as Earth Day, Women's History month, and Bridging. It gives leaders a little history and provides ideas for troop activities and field trips.
See which topics could assist you by going to the Publications page.
Exit Interviews
Adults who will no longer volunteer with the Girl Scouts of Chicago are asked to complete an Exit Interview. This should only take a few minutes to complete. Your input is very important, as we constantly seek ways to improve our delivery of service to volunteers. Thank you for the volunteer hours you have contributed to Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana.

We are adding new forms to the Publications page each week. These include camp and program registration forms, leadership leaf pin requests, volunteer service applications, and much more. All forms are in pdf format. All you need to have is Adobe Reader, which is a free download. Just go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html to get your copy.
